Knights Hospitaller Grand Master Garnier de Nablus Customized Document
Garnier de Nablus, sometimes called Garnier de Napoli de Sirie was the 10th Grand Master of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem from 1190 - 1192. He is credited with helping to win the battle of Arsuf by disobeying a direct order from King Richard I.
The Seal of the Grand Master shows the Grand Master at prayer in front of a patriarchal cross. It uses the word CVSTOS meaning guardian. Later seals would bear the word FRATER for brother. The reverse shows a prostrate form, possibly a sick person in the hospital.
This seal would normally hang from the document by a cord passing between the front and reverse. Documents can range in size to 11" x 14" to 11" x 17" or larger.
